Belinda Munson formally announced her bid for re-election as Muncie City Clerk to friends and colleagues at an event on November 30th. The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Human Resources Director all spoke on her behalf. She is the first Republican City Clerk in 64 years and won her first term over an incumbent.

Belinda is actively involved in the planning committee for the Indiana League of Municipal Clerk Treasurers (ILMCT) for the District #4 annual conference. The ILMCT provides training and education for Clerks’ and Clerk-Treasurers throughout the state of Indiana. Muncie has been chosen as a conference location with hundreds of Clerk Treasurers participating in the conference and visiting Muncie last year.

Belinda sees to it that the City Board and Commissions list of members is kept updated. She keeps the Mayor and the City Council up to date on the appointments they need to make. She also executes oaths and certificates for listed boards members.

She provided full online access to the Muncie City Municipal code and City Council documents. The ordinances and resolutions have been uploaded back 40 years as well as preserving the original city ordinance books, with the earliest one dated 1865. She also created a QR code for the City Council meetings, allowing citizens to quickly pull up the ordinances and resolutions that are being discussed.

Belinda supports new business by contracting with a local collections agency to collect on overdue parking and other ordinance violations. The initial outstanding debt was roughly $400,000 upon coming into office in January 2020.

Belinda is proud of the work she has accomplished in her first term and wants to continue working on behalf of the citizens on Muncie.
